Joel Devick's Personal Code of Ethics
A summation and illustration of the core values and beliefs I seek to carry out
Core Beliefs
Be Inclusive – I will be open and inviting to all people I come across in the industry and seek to build connections with all those that I come across.
Be Cooperative – I will seek to work in an accommodating and supportive manner with those that I call my coworkers and colleagues in the industry.
Be Respectful – I will treat all those that I am in contact with in the industry with a dignified and professional level of reverence and respect.
Be Responsible – I will take accountability and answer to my superiors and colleagues in the industry by showing my dedication and willingness to do the job on time and in accordance with what they expect of me.
Be Selfless – I will think and act in public interest and will be humane in my daily life, thinking of others before myself.
Be Accountable – I will answer to my actions, choices and oversights and will conduct myself knowing this can be held against me as indicative of my character if I fail to do so.
Be Authentic – I will be myself unapologetically, and along with answering for my actions, I will hold others accountable to a high standard and will criticize and challenge them if they fail to do so.
Be Objective – I will be transparent and will make decisions without bias, looking at all sides of a situation before acting, weighing the pros and cons and weighing these carefully every time.
Be Honorable – I will take steps in every situation and circumstance to uphold a moral and proper form of conduct, not just in professional scenarios, but in all scenarios.
Conclusion
Using these principles of being Inclusive, Cooperative, Respectful, Responsible, Selfless, Accountable, Authentic, Objective and Honorable not just in a professional capacity but in a personal and private nature, I seek to hold myself to a higher standard and character. This code will show how I have grown personally and professionally while also showing future employers and colleagues what I am capable of and what I bring to their organization. I hold myself to all these values because of how I was raised and the experiences I have gone through.
